2017-2018 Mustangs Get Involved

Moore’s Clubs and Activities

Moore Middle School has a variety of clubs and organizations through which students can get actively involved. The following information is provided to help you decide which club or organization you would like to join.

B.I.O.N.I.C (Believe It Or Not I Care)

The mission of B.I.O.N.I.C is to help fellow students, families, and staff through challenging times. The goals are to make students feel welcome, to reach out to hospitalized students, students with extended illnesses/health conditions, students and their families, and staff that experience the death of a loved one, to reach out to other schools that experience tragedies and to empower bystanders to prevent bullying. B.I.O.N.I.C will meet on the first Monday of the month during advisory in the HUB. Contact Ms. Schneider at 303-982-0410.

Book Club

Three to four times a year, students vote on books to read and discuss together at weekly lunch meetings in the HUB / Library. Contact Julie Schlosser at 303 982 0152.

Brain Bowl

An academic competition in which teams are pitted against one another. Teams consist of five players, a moderator reads questions from four subject areas including humanities, mathematics, natural science and social sciences. Each area is equally represented. A buzzer system is used to identify the player who answers first. No questions about popular culture or media are used in Brain Bowl. In January, our team(s) will have the chance to compete against other regional schools. When we meet we will practice and prepare for this fun game-show like competition. Tuesdays 2:30-3:30. Contact Julie Bolding at 303-982-3037.

FCCLA(Future Career and Community Leaders of America) –

A club that is focused on family, leadership, and how we can make a difference at Moore and the community. Students will be in charge of coming up with ideas, events or fundraisers that would help make a difference at Moore and/or surrounding community. Contact Kassi Stroh at 303-982-8928.

Gay / Straight Alliance

Math ENERGY (Math Club +)

Math ENERGY is more than just a math club.  Although it will, like most math clubs, offer students opportunities to hone their math skills, it will do so much more.  Students in Math ENERGY will explore various math systems from ancient Egyptian counting methods to modern day coding.  Math ENERGY explores math, science, logic, brain science, careers and other interests rich in math applications.  Math ENERGY is also an excellent way for students to improve their basic test-taking strategies in preparation for MathCON and other local and national math competitions.  Math ENERGY meetings have not been set yet.  Tentatively we will meet twice a month on Thursday afternoons.  Look for announcements about the first gathering.  Contact Marck McKay or Kevin Olifirowicz at marck.mckay@jeffo.k12.co.us or kevin.olifirowicz@jeffco.k12.co.us

NJHS (National Junior Honors Society) Club

This is a service organization that is for students with a 3.0 or higher GPA that also meet the code of conduct requirements.  It is a wonderful group for academic preparation, service, and events.  Contact Julie Schlosser at 303 982 0152.
